Privacy Policy

Sakinah helps you protect time for prayer around your existing commitments. This policy explains what the app and website process, why, and the choices available to you.

Information Sakinah processes

• Account information supplied by Apple or Google, including an account identifier, email address, and display name when available.
• Prayer preferences such as city or device location, coordinates, timezone, calculation method, madhab, timing preference, and prayer buffers.
• Calendar connection details, selected calendar identifiers, granted scopes, connection status, and writable destination.
• Sakinah-created schedule information, notification preferences, commitments, and placement history.
• Subscription status and product information supplied through Apple and RevenueCat.
• An email address when you voluntarily request launch updates on this website.

Google user data: access, use, and sharing

What Google user data Sakinah accesses. When you connect Google Calendar, Sakinah requests the calendar.events scope (to read and write calendar events) and the calendar.readonly scope (to read free/busy availability), together with your Google account email address for sign-in. Sakinah does not request access to any other Google service or data.

How Sakinah uses this data. Sakinah reads free/busy availability from your selected calendars to find open time, and creates, updates, or deletes prayer-block events that it tagged as its own. It does not persist the titles, descriptions, attendees, or locations of your other calendar events when free/busy information is sufficient. Events Sakinah creates contain only a prayer title and an internal tag so they can be updated or deleted safely later.

Who this data is shared with. Google Calendar data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train AI or advertising models. It is processed by Sakinah's own backend (Supabase, see "Service providers" below) solely to operate the scheduling feature described above, and is not disclosed to any other third party.

Google and Microsoft credentials are encrypted and stored server-side. Apple Calendar access stays on the device through EventKit and is never sent to Sakinah's servers.

How information is used

Information is used to authenticate you, calculate local prayer times, find available time, create and reconcile protected prayer blocks, restore schedules, deliver notifications, manage subscriptions, and respond to support requests. A launch-list email is used only for Sakinah launch updates.

Sakinah does not sell personal information, run behavioural advertising, or use calendar information to train advertising or artificial-intelligence models.

Service providers

Sakinah uses Apple and Google for sign-in, Supabase for authentication and application data, Google Calendar and Microsoft Graph when connected, Apple EventKit for on-device calendars, RevenueCat and Apple for subscriptions, and infrastructure providers needed to operate this website and launch list.

Retention and deletion

Application data is retained while your account is active. You can disconnect calendars, delete Sakinah-created events, or delete your account from the app. To remove an address from the launch list, email the contact below from that address.

Your choices

You can enter a city instead of granting location access, deny notifications, change included calendars, revoke provider access, delete tagged events, and delete your account. Apple subscription billing is managed separately in Apple account settings.

Security

Sakinah uses encrypted transport, platform keychain or keystore storage for app sessions, encrypted server-side calendar credentials, per-user access controls, one-time OAuth state, and PKCE flows. No system can guarantee absolute security, but access is limited to what is required to operate the service.

Children

Sakinah is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
